James “Jimmy” Cornelius Mpasiakos, Sr., 66, of Stony Point, NY, passed away on September 2, 2023. Born on July 14, 1957, in the Bronx NY, Jimmy was so much to so many; father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He had a great passion for sports and loved engaging in lively debates. Jimmy’s presence was felt at numerous sporting events, supporting his children, nieces, and nephews. His life will be reminisced through the countless stories and memories shared by those who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Joseph Mpasiakos and James Mpasiakos, Jr. and his wife, Graziella; his father, John Mpasiakos; his sister, Gerrie Candeleria, and her husband, Roman; his sister Ann Marie Cenname, and her husband, Fred; his brother, William Mpasiakos, and wife, Cindy, his brother John Mpasiakos and wife, Kristin; his grandchildren, Jakob and Logan Mpasiakos; and many nieces and nephews, as well as, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nora Frances Mpasiakos, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
After graduating from North Rockland High School, Jimmy enrolled in the New York City Police Academy. Assigned to serving his entire career in the 34th precinct, Jimmy dedicated himself to protecting and working with the community. He volunteered as a PAL baseball coach leading many teams to the city championship victories. Closer to home, Jimmy found joy in playing and managing several men’s North Rockland baseball teams for the Open League. His love for the sport was evident in his commitment and enthusiasm. Jimmy was a beloved child of God who found solace and guidance in his faith.
The family will receive friends at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point, NY on September 7th from 4-8pm. The Funeral will be at Immaculate Conception in Stony Point at on September 8th
