1932 – January 28, 2023
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we bid farewell to our dear Pantelis (Peter) Skamakis, a shining light in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Peter passed away peacefully on January 28, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 90 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Peter was a beacon of love, kindness and compassion. He possessed a unique ability to make everyone feel special, and his infectious smile and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had a heart of gold and lived a life filled with generosity, selflessness and class.
Peter was a devoted husband to his dear wife, Maria. Despite the progression of her condition, Peter never lost his devotion to her. He would hold her hand, recall their cherished memories, and offer her comfort and care until the end. Peter's unwavering love was an inspiration to all who knew him, exemplifying that true love endures beyond conversation and memory, and remains steadfast through both joy and sorrow.
Peter was a loving father to Sophie (George), Mandy (Drew), and an amazing Pappou to his grandchildren Joanne (Doug), Maria (Brian), Danny (Ashley) and Nico (Corteny) and a loving great grandfather (Pappouka) to Alexandra, Declan, Zoey, Amelia, Colton, Emma & Wyatt. He was a cherished member of the community, had a passion for carpentry, and always had a kind word and a helping hand for those in need.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Westview Health Center Continuing Care Hospice. They would like to specially acknowledge RN Amber and Doctor Schaefers, along with their dedicated team, for their unwavering support and compassion in the care of Peter during his final month.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Peter's memory to the Light Up Your Life Society (www.lightupyourlifesociety.org). There will be a celebration of Peter's life forthcoming.
Peter will forever be remembered and deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he has touched. We take comfort in knowing that Peter is now at peace and will always be in our hearts.
