Leaira was born in Peace River, AB and moved to Stony Plain, AB at an early age.
Leaira was a vibrant, affectionate and loving child with a witty sense of humour that made her popular with everyone she met. She had a knack for making friends easily, and went out of her way to make all friends feel special.
Known for her beautiful smile and easy laugh, she was as comfortable with her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts as she was with her friends, and would easily engage in conversation. She was mature and responsive, and ‘starting to make her own way in life, complete with her own thoughtful opinions, dreams and hopes for a fulfilling life.
As a big sister, she was also incredibly supportive, protective and caring of her younger brother. At times, she was so protective and concerned her natural maternal instinct would even annoy and irritate her brother.
Being the first and oldest grandchild of eight, she received lots of attention and adoration. Of course, when her new cousins started to arrive, she easily and willingly took on the role of “big sister” transferring her own attention and adoration to those that followed.
Leaira is survived by her father Jonathan and her step-mother Tara Gnam, her mother Kimberly and younger brother Jonathan; grandparents Kent and Catherine Perry, Violet Ominayak and Franklin Noskey; uncles Joshua, Thomas, Conrad, Aunt Julie; cousins Annabelle, Sophia, Anthony, Hudson, Hayden, Molly, Verna, Leon, Kelsey, Leona, Ryan and many others to numerous to mention.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Parkland Funeral Services, Stony Plain at 1:00 pm (doors open at 12:00 pm). Graveside service to be held immediately following at the Glory Hills Cemetery, Stony Plain, followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Stony Plain, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
