Dad grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan during the depression. He came to Edmonton in 1950 to learn his trade as a Millwright. He was a passionate union member of Millwrights local 1460 for 64 years. Dad excelled at his trade! He was nicknamed The Blacksmith! He could build anything! So he did; a snowmobile, boat and water skis, a motor home that could pass on hills. Those are only the ones the kids had fun with. Dad could fix, adapt, and transform anything! He always had a solution! He was a mentor to his grandchildren. Dad believed in post-secondary education and was very generous contributing to his great grandkids future education.
In retirement he started building affordable machines for local greenhouses. He was very proud of a 2013 Herb Knodel award from the Alberta Greenhouse Industry for developing these machines. We will miss him so much!
The family is enormously grateful to Misericordia Hospital 5 West staff for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, support education for the trades!
