Condolences to Dave's family.  I remember the days of Hi Tab with Pastor Dave and Pastor John. Those were the best years for me. I have many great memories of those times. I experienced a true revival and a very powerful movement of Holy Spirit in my life.  Pastor Dave made an impact on so many lives. He will be missed.

Oh my goodness!  If I could remember it all, I'm sure I could write a book or two about the 4 or so years that I spent with Pastor Dave and Coreen at Highway Tabernacle in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.  Those were some of the best years of my life. The ministry we enjoyed together, the laughs and practical jokes... But, one of the most memorable, touching times was when my mom was dying - Dave had taken some  young people (one of which was my  youngest sister)  from Portage to Saskatoon for some Bible School days, .  When we had to call the family home, he left Saskatoon with my sister, and brought her late at night so that she could be there with the family.  He had never met my mother, but when he stood at the foot of her bed, praying, he had tears in his eyes - it was then that I understood his heart of compassion.  What a blessing to have known him, and call him friend!  My deepest condolences to Coreen, and the children. God grant you peace!

My brother Dave, was one amazing man. He made his life about Jesus. I shall miss him immensely.. Coreen, this I know has broken your heart. Keep him close as he loved you from infinity and beyond. Josh, Katie, you're truly blessed, your dad devoted himself to you and your children..Amy, my brother adored and cherished you along with your husband and kids. Andrew, you made him proud in so many ways. As did your wife and children. I love and adore you all. Stay focused and know your dad resides at the right hand side of the father. He dances with mom and is fishing with dad.

My church has a sermon series right now called Making Room (for God and others) based on Isaiah 54:2-4a.  I am here today because Pastor Dave made room for me.  Can anything good come out of Portage?  Dave saw to it.  He treated me like part of his family, even when I didn't deserve such treatment.  He loved me no matter what, and didn't neglect the arduous task of holding me accountable.  'You had to be there,' you always wish you were if he was.  He was always there for me.

I remember Dave’s friendly smile and laugh very fondly! Coreen, My heart goes out to you during this sad, difficult time… you were always such an inspiration to me in Bible college, and later as you ministered alongside your husband with your musical giftings.. I pray you will continue to use those giftings unto the Lord, even after this brief farewell to your life partner. May you continue to find joy and peace as you continue this life’s journey without him. It won’t be long… we’ll be going home..🎶

I have many fond memories of happy family times together when we were all kids living in Windsor growing up.  The Freys lived about 5 minute drive from the Popes, but can remember thinking it was quite far away.  The Freys lived literally next door to Grandma & Grampa Frey's home and I recall many happy moments when all the cousins came to Grandma & Grandpa's to eat, play and run around all over their property.  Then as time moved on, we grew up, married and moved away from Windsor.  The bond always remained though - we were a close-knit family - bound together by the love of Jesus and the prayers of our parents, grandparents and great-great grandparents.  We would still have our annual family reunions and now our family had grown, adding many grandchildren to the mix.

One of my most treasured memories is from several years ago, when Davie flew into Toronto for a stopover enroute to Israel.  He was traveling with a Pastor's group.  He stayed overnight in my home.  I cooked a nice dinner, we watched some Gaither videos and worshipped together.  Afterward, he suggested that we pray. 
 We got down on our knees together to pray and I remember thinking how Davie really knew how to pray.  Davie prayed for me with such love and caring as well as for our entire family.  I shall never forget this treasured moment as it turned into a "heart moment" for me.  We connected  in a speciall way that day, and became friends as well as cousins.

The world has lost a kind, tender and loving man of God, a brave, courageous and valiant soldier of the Cross.  Davie, I know our family over there applauded  and welcomed you when you arrived home, but I and the rest of our family will always feel the loss of you being here.  I love you Davie!

Coreen, and family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss.  Pastor Dave was an amazing godly man, and we know he will be missed dearly.  You all are missed in our city and our life. Thank you for sharing your husband and father all the years he pastored CLA and every other church. Praying for strength and peace.

Dear Coreen and family,
My sincerest condolences to you all in the passing of David.
His was a life well lived and now he has has entered into his eternal reward.
David was my first employer hiring me at Phil's Body Shop at only 15 in exchange for doing body work on my first car rescued from the junk yard.
He was also my youth pastor for a couple years at Calvary, we didn't make the job easy I'm sorry to say.
His kind heart and humor will always be remembered  and missed until that great day we're all reunited forever!

Know that you all are in my heart and prayers as you face this difficult path of the loss of David-husband, father, grandfather,  brother. I can still hear that laugh. I will always remember he introduced me to the wonderful music of Andrae Crouch in concert when I was a teenager. Thinking about David brings back so many childhood memories. It is because of him and his Shelby that I became a huge fan of sports cars.   Always thought that car was amazing. I still drive my Mamacar, a red 2005 Mustang GT convertible.  His effect on people over the course of his life is immeasurable. Godspeed Dave!

Pastor David ran a good race!
Laurie loved his many coffee times with David and the shared humour!  talking about their families and what was happening in all their lives and bragging together. The day that he moved into the hospice, he had Laurie laughing so hard. He said he loved his new digs, but who in the world was paying for this. 😂 During our last visit 2 weeks ago, He was so proud to show us the new art in his room that his grandson made for him. Even in his weak body he still wanted to know how we were doing, that was who David was. 
He was even proud to tell us that he cleaned their bathroom when we went over for barbecues. He was so sweet and humble. 
We loved all the laughs playing games together. We had so many many many laughs ministering together in Barbados and (breaking the rules and playing cards until the wee hours in the morning.) Whoops did I just write that😂.
We were just over two hours away. On our way to visit David and take Corrine out for supper when Corrine texted us and said:
“Donna, David just slipped into eternity.  Thank you for your prayers and support.   We are just having a family time now 🙏🏻😭❤️”
We immediately thought,he was no longer in pain, and now, rejoicing!
 Driving for the next, while we begin to pray for all of you, we cried, and we reminisced about our treasured memories.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your husband father and brother David Frey. 
My name is Roy Neufert and I knew David as a young man here in Ontario. David and I were friends with a mutual love of cars. 
He was always an easy going guy with a quick smile and a quick wit. I was always impressed with his bold love for Christ always and his willingness to share his faith with everyone!
He even formed a band called One Way bought a van and tricked it out with a very cool custom paint job and toured across Canada.  I’m sure he heard well done my good and faithful servant from almighty God and is now playing his bass guitar with a heavenly  band now!
Our hope is in Christ and you will see him again one day in heaven.  God bless comfort and keep you all in his care. 🙏

To the Frey Family:

John and I want to share our deepest sympathy on the passing of David.  This is such a loss to the family.  The Howson Family and the Frey Family were always close.  I remember going to help Elizabeth when I was 17.  Elizabeth had surgery and needed help with her four kids at the time.  So I got to babysit them for a time.  Yes, I babysat David too.  He would have been a teenager at the time.  So all through our lives we have been close to the Frey family.  Elizabeth and Phil were special.

We will be praying for all the family as this time of great loss.  Having recently saying goodbye to Elizabeth, this will also be a very sad day for Coreen and the kids and grandkids.  May you feel God's presence close to you at this difficult time.
