It is with deep sadness but great hope that we share the immeasurable loss of our father Rev. David Frey on January 9, 2024. After courageously fighting liver disease and then cancer, David went peacefully and ever so gently into his Saviour’s arms. He was surrounded by his wife Coreen, and his 3 adoring kids. He shed a single tear as he left us showing his deep and everlasting love that was truly from his heavenly father.
David was born to Elizabeth and Philip Frey in Windsor, Ontario. He is the first born of five children; Barb (Harold) Rebman, Gary (Sherry) Frey, Deborah Meloche, Jeffrey (Lauren) Frey.
He inherited his love of cars after working alongside his Dad in Phil’s Body Shop. He graduated from St. Clair College with an Automotive Power Technician Certificate. In 1975, he attended North West Bible College in Edmonton where he met the love of his life, Coreen Kanten.
After their marriage in 1979, Dave pastored in Calvary Community Church in Windsor, ON as Youth Pastor. A bouncing baby boy, Joshua, was born in 1982 before leaving for Portage La Prairie, MB where they felt the call to full time ministry. Amy and Andrew were born during their time in Portage and after 6 years serving at Highway Tabernacle they moved to Winnipeg, MB to plant a church called Christian Life Assembly. After 8 years of fruitful ministry, they were called to Sylvan Lake, AB where Dave was lead pastor for 12 years at Gospel Chapel. For the last 15 years, Dave and Coreen lived in Spruce Grove, AB while Coreen served as the Children's Pastor at Spruce Grove Alliance Church. Dave went back to his roots of buying and selling cars. He especially loved teaching his 11 grandchildren God’s truth from the Bible, playing games, and laughing a lot ending in big sloppy kisses. He is most known for his jokes and loving people.
David is survived by his wife of 44 years Coreen and their 3 children; Joshua (Katie-Lee) Frey, Amy (Ryan) Ball, Andrew (Kassia) Frey and his 11 grandchildren; Bennett, Elijah, Jackson, Ezra, Reuben, Adelaide, Levi, Benjamin, Josiah, Eleanor, and Lucia. His absence has left a hole in all of our hearts.
David was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Philip; his brother-in-law Roger Meloche and by his nephew Jesse Rebman.
