It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Martin on January 18, 2022, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, AB. Ann was born July 1949 in Saint John, NB, the daughter of Douglas and Willa (Woodley) Archibald.
Pre-deceased by her parents, her oldest brother David, Bedford, NS, nephew Glenn Archibald and niece Lynda Kirkham, Vancouver, BC. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Neil Martin, son Scott (Melanie), grandson Alex, Devon, AB, brother Jim Archibald (Noreen Lodge) of Courtenay, BC and life-long friend and soul sister Jane Mealey of Bedford, NS, as well as nieces Susan and Jennifer Archibald of Nova Scotia; nephews Stephen and Bruce Archibald of Halifax, NS and Edmonton, AB; Mark (Jodi) and Jamie Archibald, Edmonton, and grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters in-law Susan Gorman and Marilyn Willis (ON) and nephews Kyle Gorman, China, Robert Gorman, Milton, ON and Graham Willis, Edmonton, AB; her beloved and faithful “fur friends” Finn and McGee. Ann will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Ann was a woman whose purpose in life seemed to be looking after others first. After graduating from nursing at the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in Saint John, NB, she went on to practice her career in Ottawa, ON and Edmonton, AB where she served as Director of Nursing at the University of Alberta Hospital. She then took a position at St. Michael's Long-Term Care Centre in Northeast Edmonton and later concluded her nursing career at the Devon Hospital southwest of Edmonton. Ann was a dedicated and compassionate healthcare leader.
Ann loved life and living. Her family was the center of her life. She was passionate about her gardens and her newfound love of “diamond painting”
A private family celebration of Ann’s life will be held at a later time.
