William Sixto Nicolas

He graduated from Edison High School in 1964 where he participated in sports, was a member of the National Honor Society, student government and was chosen for a residency program at Northwestern University for journalism.

Wil served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 and was stationed at Camp Humphreys in South Korea. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1969.

After his military service, he attended the University of the Pacific where he received a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude.

In 1973, he studied to become a teacher of Transcendental Meditation as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. A practice that transformed him and extended positively into all aspects of his life.

He had a long and successful career in the insurance and financial services industry having co-founded a company that served the clients for more than 30 years.

He was an avid bowler for many years, both recreationally and in multiple leagues. He received three 300 rings (much to his delight) which are given for a perfect game.

Wil is remembered for the gift he had of making people feel special, his love of family, friends, and good food.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia of Stockton, his son, Josh of Oregon, and his daughter Ali and son-in-law Parker of New York, his brother Tom and sister-in-law Corrinne Nicolas of Elk Grove, his sister Linda and brother-in-law Eloy Mazuka of Elk Grove, and sister-in-law Joesphine Nicolas, Elk Grove. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sixto and Asuncion Nicolas and brothers Romeo Nicolas and Benjamin Nicolas Sr.

Family and friends are invited to attend a tribute at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Wil’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful Hospice carers Erica, Kali, Maria, Liezel, Mercedes, Giselle, Gudy, Jennifer, and Bessie. Thank you also to Laura and Maggie.
