The family moved to Tulare after the death of his father, Booker T. Johnson in 1945. Wilbert was the youngest of five children in that union, Lucille Evans, Donna Page, Johnny Johnson and Booker Jr.
He grew up in Tulare, CA attending elementary school and graduated from Tulare Union High School.
Wilbert’s first job was with the State of California in Porterville, CA as a psych technician.
During that time he met the future love of his life, Katherine Bailey-Johnson. They married June 12, 1961, to this union two sons were born, Drake and Dexter.
In July of 1966 the Johnsons moved to Stockton, CA. Elder Johnson continued to work for the State of California in Stockton. He later retired from Penske Trucking.
Elder Carter Little, Sr. of True Life Apostolic Faith Church in 1967 requested Wilbert Johnson to deliver a sermon. The rest was in God’s hands.
Elder Johnson founded and pastored New Life Apostolic Faith, Inc. first in Livermore, CA, relocated to Stockton, CA at 535 E. Channel Street. For the past 25 years he and his wife, Evangelist Katherine Johnson, have been faithful leaders of the congregation.
Elder Wilbert Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: wife Katherine, sons Drake (Deb) Johnson and Dexter; Granddaughter Biana (Patrick) Redifer, great grandson, Patrick Eli Redifer; Sister, Donna Page, sister in laws, Helen Bailey, Debra (Willard) Epps, brother in law James Fuller; a host of close knit nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and the New Life Apostolic Church members.

A visitation for Wilbert will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lighthouse of the Valley Church, 4368 N Sutter Street, Stockton, CA 95204. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Lighthouse of the Valley, 4368 N Sutter Street, Stockton, CA 95204.
