Ronald Duane Ramirez (Ronnie) entered into rest on September 9, 2024, in the presence of his family. Ronald was 77 years old. He was born to David C. & Lena S. Ramirez and was the eldest of their five children. Ronnie was born in Sacramento, California & was raised in the Sacramento River Delta area. Ronnie attended school(s) in Rio Vista, CA. During his high school years, along with friends Stanley, Clifford, and Mike, they formed the band known as “The Majestics.” Ronnie was the drummer of the band and loved it. He loved his music, often listening to the 60’s & Motown at home, playing the “drums” along with the songs. The Majestics reunited again in later years to play for various Rio Vista High School reunions.
After graduation, Ronnie joined the U.S. Army, serving for two years. Having met in high school, he married the true love of his life, Scherlyn Williams on May 12, 1968. Ronnie and Scherlyn went on to have 56 wonderful years of marriage. They had three daughters, Rhonda, Reneé, and Raquel. He worked for 25 years at Viking Freight Systems as a professional driver before retiring. Ronnie’s life was his family, especially his adored 5 grandchildren. He was a flag football coach for his granddaughter Alinna and grandsons Isaiah & William’s (Zach) team the 49ers. He also served as a baseball coach for his grandson William’s team. The kids whom he coached adored him, and to them, he will forever be known as “Coach Ron”. Ronnie loved to go camping, fishing & barbecuing. However, nothing compared to the time he would spend with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren who were the light of his life. There wasn’t anything Ronnie (Grandpa) wouldn’t do to make them happy. His love also included the SF 49ers and SF Giants. Following the teams and watching them play was one thing that never wavered with him win or lose he was a forever fan.
Ronnie’s love for his family was apparent. He was always willing to help his siblings, children, and his grandchildren. We all knew Ronnie would have our backs, no matter what. Ronnie was the most loving, giving, person to anyone fortunate enough to have known him. His presence will be greatly missed by his family, and friends.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, David & Lena Ramirez.
Survived by his wife Scherlyn, and his daughters Rhonda, Reneé, and Raquel Ramirez. His grandchildren Alinna, Isaiah, Leilah, Victoria Linares, & William Zachary Hunt.
