Irene moved from Winona, Texas to Stockton, California where she met and united in marriage in 1953 to Ozark Everett for 59 years. Irene retired from San Joaquin General Hospital.
Irene united with God’s Throne Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev., Dr. Zacchaeus Dunham, Sr., Emeritus, where she was a faithful member, church clerk, past president, WMU, and member of the senior choir for many years until her health began to fail and she could no longer attend on a regular basis. Her favorite songs, “Stand by me”, sung by Sis. Jewel Dunham and “Going up Yonder” sung by Sis. Theresa Hall. Her favorite saying, “whatever the problem, pray on it, and turn it over to the Lord”.
Family members preceding her in death are her parents James Bell, Mary Hammond (Miller) and Eddie Miller, (Stepfather); brother Cartillious Francis, Ida Francis (sister in-law); Henrietta Miller, (mother in-law), Mamie Bynom, (Aunt) and Joseph Anderson (special friend).
Irene, was granted her angel wings early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2012, she passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep. Her final days were spent, surrounded by her family whom she loved dearly.
Irene leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Ozark Everett; Two daughters Karen Hammons, of Stockton, CA and Monica Taylor (Bruce) of Elk Grove, CA; 3 grandchildren Lynn Smith, Jr., (Cynthia), Twanna Hammons (Brandon) and Elijah McDonald; Eight great-grandchildren Lynisha, Michael, Monica, Jordan, Lynn III, Jayden, Akeela And Mikaela; Two nephews, Keith Francis-Williams (Gwen) and Steven Francis; One niece Sheila Williams of Newark, CA., and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary. Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at God’s Throne Baptist Church 405 E. Lindsay St. in Stockton. Committal will follow at the Stockton Rural Cemetery.
