Mrs. Gloria Jeannette Crawford (née Scribante) passed peacefully in her home at the Magnolia of Millbrae on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Millbrae, CA at the age of 91.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Denise Lundquist, her son-in-law, Chris Lundquist and her Grandchildren Alexis Lundquist and C. Tyler Lundquist, all of Hillsborough, CA.
Gloria was born on September 27, 1931 in Alameda, CA to Melba and August Scribante. She graduated from Alameda High School in 1949 and attended Chabot College. Gloria went to Hollywood and pursued an acting career securing a role in the movie Around the World in 80 Days. She drag raced cars, hill climbed motorcycles, managed a hotel/casino, ran the Miss Nevada pageant and oversaw U.S. Naval Fleet communications at Rough and Ready Naval Station. Gloria was always the life of the party and loved to dance. She lived in Alameda, San Leandro, Hayward, Reno and eventually settled in Stockton where she and her mother, Melba, raised her daughter, Denise. Her family remember her as kind, generous, fun loving, and full of energy. She always encouraged her family to follow their dreams. Her daughter and grandchildren were the center of her world.
Gloria spent every free moment working with groups close to her heart. She held leadership positions in the Sons of Italy, The Italian Catholic Federation, Native Daughters of the Golden West and the United Ancient Order of Druids, Evergreen Circle #15, the latter of which she served as Grand Arch Druidess.
A memorial to celebrate Gloria’s life is scheduled for Thursday, May 25th at 10:30am at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street, Stockton, CA 95202, with a reception to follow.
