Born in Poncitlan, Jalisco, Mexico on 21 April 1938, she married Joseph A Garcia and came to Stockton in 1957. They were committed to giving their best to their four beautiful children: Giselle, Patricia, James and Michael.
Elvira was a faithful daily communicant and she volunteered at St Joseph’s twice a week as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Her whole life was shaped by her faith in God and she had many devotions to the Saints. She prayed throughout the day and she offered God her best in everything she did.
Elvira received a 6th grade education in Mexico but after her four children reached full enrollment at St Luke’s School, she went back to school studying English as a Second Language. She received her high school diploma and graduated from Delta College with High Honors. She attended University of the Pacific on full scholarship and earned her BA, Teaching Credential and MA. Elvira worked as an Elementary school teacher for 22 years and touched the lives of countless students.
Elvira will be deeply missed by her husband of 65 years, her children, daughter-in-law and 11 grandchildren.
Services include a Rosary on Wednesday, Jun 15, 2022 at 6:00 pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St in Stockton; Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Jun 16, 2022 at 11:30 am at St Luke's Church, 3847 N Sutter St, Stockton.
