Donna Mae Eppler Murdoff was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was born August 16, 1940, in Greeley, Colorado. She passed away on September 25, 2022 in San Joaquin General Hospital. She was a beloved and caring wife to Ronald Murdoff. She cared deeply for her two children Kevin Murdoff and Sherrick Murdoff and their spouses Jenny Murdoff and Alli Murdoff. She also cared deeply for her three grandchildren Margaret (Maggie) Murdoff, Matthew (Matt) Murdoff, and the late Charlotte (Char) Murdoff.
Donna grew up in Denver, Colorado where she learned dancing and playing the violin at the same time. She played second chair violin in the Denver Symphony youth Orchestra during high school at South High School. She was a music major at the University of California, Berkeley. Later, she changed to getting a teaching certificate. While at UCB, she was president of a teaching sorority. She was very proud of her education at UCB.
In 1962, she and Ron were married. After he finished graduate school, they moved to Walnut Creek, CA and then to Stockton, CA where he was employed. They started a family. When the children were old enough, she began her teaching career in junior high school and elementary school in private and public schools. For many years she was fourth grade teacher at Commodore Skills School in Stockton Unified School District. Her colleagues have praised her work with students, especially some difficult ones. She enjoyed working with her students and her colleagues.
Through the generosity of Ron’s sister, Marilyn, Ron, Donna and Marilyn were able to travel to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska. They were enjoyable and informative trips. The last two trips fulfi lled Donna’s desire to visit all 50 states of the United States.
Donna was friendly and kind with everyone she met. She made friends easily and enjoyed her friendships. After retirement from teaching, on the first Wednesday of every month, she and her retired friends would gather for breakfast at a restaurant to share their experiences.
Her family wants to thank all of the people who helped her in her final weeks of life. These people include the staff at Creekside Center and the staff at the Intensive Care Unit at San Joaquin General Hospital. Their support on all shifts is very much appreciated.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held in the Fireside Room of Central Methodist Church, 3700 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, CA on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 12:00 PM.
