Audrey Cynthia Jordan was born into the loving arms of her parents Harry Lee Jordan and Bessie Lucinda Smith on December 15, 1941. After her parents’ marriage ended she lived with her mother and later with her maternal grandparents, Ruben and Hazel Smith. After she finished high school in San Diego California in 1959 she returned to Stockton, California and was reacquainted with her childhood sweetheart, Willie Easter Jr. They were married on September 12. 1959. To this union were born three children, Robin, Willie III and Wendell.
Her favorite past times were cooking wonderful meals that took her time to plan. Each dish was made with love. She also enjoyed gambling at the satellite horse races at the fairgrounds and shopping at Macy’s at any sale they had. To her children she was known as “Bargain Betty.” She loved to smoke cigarettes, drinking coffee and Pepsi. She especially enjoyed listening to Jazz.
The Epistle of James Chapter 2 verse 17 says, “Even so faith if it hath not works is dead alone.” Audrey came to Christ at a young age. Audrey was a member of Second Baptist Church until the church folded.
She was passionate about her work, the heart of her work had a common thread, working to improve her community, city, and county. She worked at the Neighborhood Center project sponsored by Miss Margaret Washington, The Rainbow Coalition who sponsored book give always for minority children. She then moved on to work for the OIC Occupational Industrial Center a youth program under the direction of Rev. Bob Hailey. Audrey worked for San Joaquin County. She ran the CAC Community Action Council, worked at San Joaquin County Women’s Jail, The Boys and Girls Club of Stockton, San Joaquin County Housing Authority, and San Joaquin County Schools Program as a teacher.
She received her vocational education teaching credential from San Joaquin County Office of Education. Her work career spanned over 33 years. She retired from teaching May 4, 2004 after 10 years of teaching.
Audrey turned in her lifelong teaching credentials on May 11 and went to start her new life in Heaven. Waiting for her in Heaven are her grandparents, parents, her son, Willie III, sister, Hazel Arlene Moore, niece Vanessa K. Moore Gaither, her Goddaughter and cousin Reja A. Smith.
Remembering her loving heart are her children Robin Easter Jones, Wendell L. Easter/America, Grandchildren: Juanisha R Easter, Jeanice L. Jones, Ashley M. Easter Johnson, Jordan W. Easter, Israel and Daniel Easter, Adio, Jamal, Jordan, Share, Kenda, Trinae and Amber. Her great grandchildren Armani Huey, Christian Easter, Joel Nyung, Avanti Easter, and Romeo Johnson. Audrey also leaves her loving heart 1 Uncle, James E. Smith Sr., 2 Aunts, Ophelia Harvey/Ulysses, Wilhelmina S. Henry. Her sister’s children Cynthia Cunningham, Leon Moore Jr. and Tracy Dennis/Nate. 1 brother-in-law, Leon Moore Sr. 1 Godson: Kevin Williams. There are many cousins who will miss her dearly. Audrey also leaves 4 special people: Kim Ivy, Claudia Goodlow, Barbara Klaus and Pao Xiong, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
