Jean LeCroy Martin, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at 4:35 a.m., surrounded by family in Stockbridge, GA. Born on February 3, 1928, in East Tallassee, Alabama, Jean was the beloved daughter of Berta Ina Sayers LeCroy of East Tallassee and Ira Leonard LeCroy of Bornin, GA.
Jean was married to her husband and soulmate, Harold Charles Martin, on October 20, 1943, in Fulton County, GA. Harold, who passed on October 16, 2012, was the love of her life next to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, love, and devotion, serving as pillars of strength and guidance for their loved ones.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her four sons: Richard Charles Martin (predeceased, November 17, 2017), married to Patricia Moseley Martin; Don Terry Martin, married to Bonnie Jannette Martin; Dave Gary Martin, married to Toni Cooper Martin; and Randy Darrell Martin, married to April Rhindress Martin. Jean’s legacy continues through her cherished 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, who each held a special place in her heart. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Walter (Pete) LeCroy and Kathryn LeCroy.
Jean enjoyed a fulfilling career with Avon, where she retired after more than 30 years as a respected district manager. Her passion for skincare and her natural gift for sales left an impact on many. But beyond her career, Jean was first and foremost a dedicated wife and a loving mother and grandmother, who cared deeply for her family and celebrated each moment spent with them.
She and Harold were dedicated members of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and she was a member of Brushy Knob Baptist Church at the time of her passing. Known for her unwavering faith, Jean was the family’s devoted prayer warrior, who lived her life with a servant’s heart. Her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, was a source of comfort and guidance throughout her life: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Jean loved to sew, visit yard sales, and enjoy tea parties with family and friends. She had a particular fondness for collecting tea pots, each one representing her warmth and hospitality. A lover of good board games, word searches, and game shows, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures and brought lightheartedness and laughter to all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on November 12, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Stockbridge GA. A celebration of Jean’s life and faith will follow on November 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location, with Pastor James Ward officiating.
Jean’s love, strength, and prayers will be cherished forever by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love that will remain a guiding light for generations.
