Herb was known by so many people as Herbie. He was born in Alpharetta, GA on April 30, 1929. He joined the United States Marine Corps, went to college of Advanced Traffic and worked as Traffic Manager and Transportation Manager at Owens Illinois in Hapeville, GA. Herb was a humble, religious, and kind man. He loved singing music. His last song in the choir at Union United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Max Hill, was Softly and Tenderly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Herb is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Elsbeth "Liz" Roe; children, Beverly Burton (Keith) and David Roe; stepchildren, Patty Haralson (Jimmy) and Mike Parker; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Herbert on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 10:00 AM in Ward's Chapel. Services will conclude with graveside military honors and a committal service at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Pastor Max Hill, officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Dwayne Burton, Chad Burton, Mikey Parker, Robbie Downs, Alex Shammas and Dustin Bryson.
