Gracie Kate Gazaway, age 97, of Eatonton, GA passed away on September 20, 2019. She was born to the late Milton and Myrtie Hembree in Atlanta, GA on March 25, 1922. She attended Lakepoint Community Church in Eatonton, GA. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Transus Trucking, and she volunteered at The King Center and at her local Senior Center. Before moving to Eatonton, she was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Marcus Leo Gazaway, her two sons; Michael and Thomas and her grandson Jeffrey.
She is survived by her daughter; Jacquelyn (Tim) Pape of Big Canoe, GA, her son Raymond (Diane) Gazaway of Eatonton, GA, her grandchildren; Michael Gazaway Jr., Jeffrey Gazaway, Matthew Gazaway, Jonathan Buice, Meghan Buice, Kate Gazaway, Marcus Gazaway, and Nathan Gazaway, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home located at 376 Fairview Rd in Stockbridge, GA 30281. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Internment will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
