Cleveland Adolphus Brown was born on March 19, 1940 in Jamaica, West Indies to Levi Brown and Isabell McNeil.
He migrated to England in April 1965, where he worked as a welder for an engineering company. On September 3, 1966, Cleveland married Vida May Dennis. Vida migrated to the United States in 1969 and Cleveland joined her in 1971. He worked at Pfaulder for over 30 years as a welder before retiring. One of Cleveland's favorite "toys" was his 1st vehicle, an Austin 840, that he was very proud of.
Cleveland and Vida moved to Georgia in 2005, to be with their daughter, Maxine, after certain health issues started to arise. Plus, the weather was much better! Vida, his lifelong love of 54 years, passed away on April 6, 2021.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Vincent "Brother" Brown, Violet "Vie" Brown-Banton and Adlit "Alice" Brown.
He leaves to mourn four children, Maxine Brown of Stockbridge, Georgia, Althea Simpson of Ellenwood, Georgia, Garfield Simpson of Rochester, New York and Kenneth (Valrie) Simpson of Conyers, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Yasmin Simpson of Rochester, New York, Lareina Davis of Ellenwood, Georgia, Brandon Simpson of Rochester, New York, Cassandra Simpson of Burbank, California, Dominique (Keri) Davis of Belleville, Illinois, Jamal Simpson of Conyers, Georgia, Venessa (Griffin) Drake of Los Angeles, California and Larissa Davis of the Military; three great-grandchildren, Devon Davis, Jr. of Rochester, New York, Deion Davis of Rochester New York and Layla Davis of Belleville, Illinois; siblings, Earnest Brown, Eustace Brown, Granville Brown, Mavis Brown and Florel Brown, all of Jaimaica; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia.
The Homegoing Celebration of Life for Mr. Cleveland Adolphus Brown will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel, with Interment immediately following in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
