Mrs.Barbara Joan Masters Mitchell passed away on September 25, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born July 22, 1936 in Ellenwood, Georgia, where she lived her entire life. She married Joseph Mitchell in 1956.They were married for 66 years and had 2 children, Robert and Paula. Barbara was very active in church and served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, the pianist, and the choir director. She also worked with the youth and helped organize many special programs and Christmas plays. She loved gospel music, playing the piano, singing, traveling, reading, and cats. She was a wonderful homemaker during all the years her children were in school. She held a few jobs outside the home after her children were grown, but her favorite job was caring for her family. She kept all 7 of her grandchildren throughout the years and was present for countless birthday parties, programs, school events, band and chorus concerts, graduations, and sporting events. She cared for Joe as he faced many health issues in his later years. Her faith in God never wavered, and she always prayed for her family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mildred Masters and her husband, Joseph Mitchell. She is survived by her children Robert (Tracey) Mitchell and Paula (Matt) Fountain, her grandchildren Laura (Josiah) Webster, Tim (Morgan) Mitchell, Heather (Derek) Bethel, Audrey (Kyle) Haney, Brooke Fountain, Madison Fountain, and Brittany Fountain, 4 great-grandchildren, Judah Webster, Willow Mitchell, Mitchell Bethel, and Daniel Bethel, her sister, Ann Lassiter, and many nieces and nephews.
We will all miss her unconditional love, her hugs, her wonderful cooking and the always animated stories she would tell. Surely there is no other earthly love like that of a mother.
