Alice Faye Smith, 76, of Rex went to be with Jesus on October 16, 2024. She was born in Pickens, SC March 22, 1948 to the late Frances Strange. She was a beloved Gigi and dedicated to her family. She was an amazing cook and best known for her southern style dishes. Many people were blessed to taste her cooking. Everyone had a favorite. Most of all we will miss her banana pudding, chocolate oatmeal cookies, and biscuits . She was always putting other people’s needs before her own. She had a life well lived and full of joy surrounded by those she loved. Her favorite place to be was at the ball field cheering on her grandchildren. She also loved to travel to Myrtle Beach and Cherokee NC where she loved to fish and gamble. Alice was a bus driver for Clayton County Schools for over 30 years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne Smith; her son Scottie Smith (Carey) Of Mcdonough, daughter-in-law Conna Smith Mcdonough. She has four grandchildren, Eli, Maela, Will, and Logan. She has many family members in South Carolina: her brother Gene (Debbie) Anders, many nephews and her niece Jennie Lou Plumley.
She is proceeded in death by her son, David Smith who passed away just a few months ago. She is also proceeded in death by her mother, brothers, Larry, Wayne, and Bobby Anders; her sister and brother-in-law Mary Ellen and Rich Kuss, and Randy Plumley.
Though we are saddened by her passing, we will rejoice that she has returned to Jesus, reunited with family who have passed before, but most importantly her son, David.
