Jason "Jay" Torphy

Torphy, Jason R. 51 of Wheaton, IL passed away November 10, 2021 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Ann and father of Josh; loving brother of John (Lisa); Colleen; and Jeremy (Beth); cherished uncle of John Martin, Jessica, Ryan, Lindsey, Kayla, Erin, and Abigail; and great uncle of Island, Mateo and Sebastian. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Patricia.

Jason was so many things to so many people- the joker, a gentle soul, the giant teddy bear, the math tutor, the life of the party, comedian, first one to send a birthday text, party and meal planner extraordinaire (he could never start planning too early and there could never be too much food), sender of random early morning texts, the lifter of heavy things, frick or frack (to Jeremy-nobody knows who is which), sale and deal finder, weatherman, computer fixer, family recipe maker, weekly sale notifier, the one who would call just to talk (and sigh a lot or just companionably listen to each other breath), great gift finder and giver, story teller (oh the stories- so many stories), major geek, and “big brother” to so many more than just Jeremy.

He was an all around incredibly good person who cared for everyone around him and would do anything for anyone. Jason loved being Ann’s husband and she lit up his life. While it may have happened later in his life, being able to be father to Josh made him so proud. He was the best son and so devoted to his parents. He was a brother anyone would be lucky to have and John, Colleen, and Jeremy were blessed to grow up with him, battle with him, engage in so many antics together, and get to enjoy him spoiling their children. Uncle Jay was so loved by all of his nieces and nephews who were lucky to know they were loved by their uncle as if they were his own children.

From his unmistakable laugh to his giant bear hugs the loss of Jason will be felt every single day, He was our glue. We love you Jay- Tank, Kodiak, Uncle Jay, Yona Anaya, Cherokee Name: which means Roaring Bear.

Visitation Thursday November 18, 2021 from 4pm-8pm; Service Friday November 19th 10am at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 s. Oak Park Avenue Stickney. Interment, November 19th at 12:00pm at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
