It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Henchey announces that he died suddenly from a heart attack at his home in the Laurentians on July 9th. Loving brother of Peter (Diane Sirkin), Brian and Elizabeth, he was predeceased by his beloved parents Agnes and Gordon. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Michael, who grew up in Beaconsfield was a lifelong learner , he was always eager to explore the complexities of life with intelligence and wit. Michael had an innate curiousity about life’s big questions such as whether a higher power exists and the nature of mortality. Michael was always keen to question, challenge, dismantle, rebuild and mostly, try to understand how people were wired. Michael’s humour was original, alternatively ridiculous and profound, always constructive in its endless quest to unravel the paradoxes and absurdities of life.
To quench Michael’s unending need to learn and grow , after attending Loyola High School, he continued his studies at McGill University where he completed a physics and then a computer science degree. He then went on and received a bachelors’ of philosophy degree from Universite de Montreal and his Masters’ degree in philosophy from the Universite Grenoble Alpes.
Michael moved to Sainte-Adele and started a technology business where he worked with local businesses setting up their technology needs. Michael spent the remainder of his life in the Laurentians where he built life long friendships.
A funeral service , followed by a reception, will be held on Sunday, August 20th at 2:00pm at Les Salon Funeraires Guay , 995 Rue Grignon, Sainte-Adele.
Friends and family will be welcomed at the John Le Grec restaurant 980 Bd de Sainte-Adele, Sainte-Adele QC to celebrate Michael’s life.
