Obituary of Patricia Ann Wright Willis
Patricia Ann Wright Willis, 87, of Staunton, VA passed away in her home on Friday, April 12, 2024. Pat was born in Staunton, VA to William & Mildred Wright on October 16, 1936. She married Conrad Willis on December 6, 1958. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, her parents, her parents-in-law Harry and Edna Willis, her grandson, Jacob Hartless, and her son-in-law Allen Mattejat. She is survived by her children Mike (Judy), Darrell, Sharon (Doug), Lee, Kim (Butch), Donna and Dee. Her grandchildren Lori, Amy, Michael Joseph, Christina, Brenda, and Elizabeth as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Also, her brothers Gus (Mary), Guy (Gloria), Joe (Beverley) and her brother-in-law Davis (Betty), sisters-in-law Anna and Pat. Also, many cherished nieces and nephews. A creative and multi-talented soul, Pat could do any craft she put her mind to. From sewing her children’s clothes and piecing quilts with her mother-in-law, spending hours creating beautiful ceramic pieces with her best friend Bobby Tomlin, crocheting & knitting, liquid embroidery, and all sorts of craft items. Each time she had a booth at a craft show she would take one or more of her children with her to help set up and then pack up all her crafts she made to sell. She also learned to paint with Bob Ross classes and created beautiful paintings with happy trees she shared with her family. Pat had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. Her family grew a huge garden as well as a potato patch every summer. She would can and freeze not only all types of vegetables but also bushels of fruit from local orchards. When her kids would ask to go swimming in the local swimming hole Pat would ask them if they finished weeding their rows in the garden yet. Spending time with family was important to Pat. Attending her children’s special events including plays, concerts, graduations, and other milestones meant a lot to her. Being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren put a smile on her face. Pat was an avid reader. When she wasn’t cooking for her family of 9 or working in the garden, or any of the multitude of other chores she performed on a daily basis you could find her reading. This was a hobby she enjoyed for her lifetime. Helping her community was important to Pat; she was a lifetime member of Wilson Volunteer Fire Company in Lyndhurst. She spent many hours supporting the fire company, collecting money at fundraisers and various other volunteer activities. A memorial service will be held at Parkway Wesleyan Church, 1987 Springhill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401 on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pat’s memory to Wilson Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 157, Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
