Obituary of Marlene Carol "Patsy" Messegee
Marlene Carol (Ness) Messegee, known to loved ones as Patsy, 86, of Fairfax Station, VA passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the home of her son, Todd Messegee, in Churchville, VA. Born September 21, 1937 in Tacoma, WA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Long) Ness. Marlene was a supportive Navy wife who dedicated her life to raising her three sons wherever her husband’s military career took them. She was a talented artist, who specialized in painting, crocheting and sewing. For a number of years, she was a very successful business owner with a shop that specialized in antiques, handmade crafts, and various gifts. Patsy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Gracie Ness; and brothers-in-law, Bob Hughes and Bob Messegee. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, James Allen Messegee of Fairfax Station, VA; three sons, Todd Messegee and wife, Lisa, of Churchville, Timothy Messegee and wife, Lisa, of CA, and Thomas Messegee and wife, Amy, of FL; grandchildren, Evangeline Messegee, Heather Messegee, Lauren Schmidt, Bryan Messegee, Zachary Messegee, and Blake Messegee; great-grandchildren, Logan and Madeline Schmidt and Avery and Riley Messegee; two sisters, Sally Gustafson and husband, Doug, and Sue Hughes; brother, Thomas Ness; and numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a private celebration of life will be held at the home of her son, Todd. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o The Augusta Health Foundation, P.O.
