Jean Anne Schneider Lu

Jean Anne (Schneider) Lu, 61, of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Lu was born on March 16, 1952 in Fort Scott Kansas and was a daughter of the late William Anthony and Margaret Jean (Wills) Schneider. Jean served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller during the Vietnam era achieving the highest rank of Sergeant. Following her military service, she worked as a Senior Budget Analyst and Congressional Liaison at the Headquarters of the United States Air Force in the Pentagon. After moving to Staunton in 2009, Jean became active in the Staunton Historical Society. She also enjoyed visiting the Black Friars Playhouse and the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia. Jean was an advocate of buying local products and supporting the local economy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will greatly miss her. On October 22, 1977, she married Luke Lu, who survives. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by a son, Mark Luke Lu of Blacksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Jennifer Sun-Lu Fisher and husband Vincent of Falls Church, Virginia, Sara Wills Lu Shu and husband Bryan of Westminster, Colorado; a brother, James Schneider and wife Susan of North Richland Hills, Texas; five sisters, Marilyn Bilyeu and husband Gene of Dodge City, Kansas; Carol Gouker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Barbara Anderson and husband Jamie of Dallas, Texas, Ruth Draney and husband Terry of Joplin, Missouri, Linda Willis and husband James of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, James Luke Fisher and Anne Lee Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 5, 2014 from 1 until 3 PM at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held immediately following the visitation.
