Eugene Roscoe Moats, 79, of Staunton passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. He was born in Highland County on January 30, 1940, a son of the late Roy and Clara (Simmons) Moats.
Eugene worked as a truck driver for 45 years with Augusta Block and also worked at Conners Towing and Whitson Towing for 30 years. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and sitting on the porch as watching the wildlife.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Mary Margaret Moats; his many beloved children, Donald Moats and wife, Cindy of Staunton, Wayne Moats of Verona, Leonard Moats of Staunton, Gary Moats of Churchville, Keith Robertson of Stuarts Draft, and Logan Armentrout of Roanoke, Crystal Buchanan of Staunton, Amber Smith and husband, Kevin of Grottoes, Patience Steppe of Staunton, Virginia Woodson of Verona and Alayia Woodson of King George; brother, Carl Lee Moats, Sandy of Staunton; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum & Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Dale Moran, B.F. Caricofe, Doug Snyder, Sean Snyder, Logan Armentrout, Toby Helmick, Joe Snyder, and Kevin Smith.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
