She was born on January 19, 1922, in Iredell County and was a daughter of the late Richard Harmon and Ella Dayvault Crouch. She was a relationship banker with the former NCNB bank and a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Cool Springs High School and loved cooking and taking care of her family.
On June 22, 1941, she married Mr. Boyce Turner Shoemaker who died on March 27, 1981. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Tom Crouch, Ruby Knox, Edith Steele, Pauline Mayes and Marie Yates.
She is survived by a son, Keith Shoemaker and his wife, Janet of Clinton, NC; a daughter, Sherry Stone and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Brett Keith Shoemaker (Erin), Kimberly Anne Shoemaker, Chris Turner Stone and Shelton Stone Draughon (Dustin); and a great-grandson, Caleb Shoemaker.
Services celebrating Mrs. Shoemaker's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18th at the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jennifer Bingham officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Private burial will be at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
