She was born August 24, 1929, in Rowan County, and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Lola Belle Livengood Lippard. She was a devoted wife and mother and a faithful, active member of Corinth Church of Christ. She spent many years taking care of her family and spent the last 15 years of her husband’s life as his caregiver before being diagnosed with the same disease, Alzheimer’s, shortly after his death. Her hobbies included writing stories for The Salisbury Post, playing the piano, playing Chinese checkers and working in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 10, 2009, by the love of her life, her husband, Harley Seymore Kinley; and a brother, Homer Lippard.
She is survived by her five children, Jimmy (Helen) Kinley of Woodleaf, Judy Kinley of Statesville, Rita (Wyatt) Wells of Boone, Earl (Cindy) Kinley of Woodleaf and Karen (Keith) Goins of Woodleaf; 12 grandchildren; 20+ great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde (Roselyn) Lippard of Needmore; and her very dear friend, Dorothy “Dot” Campbell.
Funeral services celebrating Virginia’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2013, at Corinth Church of Christ in Woodleaf with R.D. McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, Statesville.
