Tommy was born in Davie County on December 12, 1936 and was a son of the late Marvin L. and Anna B. Seamon Williams. He attended Cool Springs School. He was a textile worker, was self employed as a meat retail salesman, selling meat to nursing homes and was a farmer. He loved his wife, family, church and farming and raising cows. At an early age, Tommy joined Society Baptist Church and started teaching Sunday School at the age of 15. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Statesville. He was always active in church work serving as a deacon and teacher in various churches. He taught an adult men's class for several years before his declining health. On July 25, 1958, he married Weleska W. Johnston, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Danny E. Williams of Taylorsville and Gary W. Williams of the home, a daughter, Denise Stinnett (Mark) of Boca Raton, Fla., four grandchildren, Crystal Clodfelter of Cornelius, Ashley Clodfelter of Huntersville, Jessica Williams of Mocksville and Nathan Williams of Mocksville, a brother, Richard W. Williams (Elaine) of Advance and a sister, Joann B. Williams of Mocksville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in dath by a brother, Lester N. Williams. He is also survived by ten nieces and four nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times the family will receive visitors at the home.
Services celebrating Tommy's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Dulin, Rev. Chris Hazlip and Rev. Dermont Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in the Society Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
