She was born January 14, 1920, in Davie County and was the daughter of the late Jessie M. and Della E. McDaniel. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Mocksville where she had formerly taught Sunday school and had earlier been a member of the choir. She retired from Hunt Brothers Manufacturing Company in Statesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilburn K. McDaniel.
She is survived by a niece, Hazel Dyson Smoot of Mocksville; a great-niece, Lynn Sherrill (Dale); three great-nephews, Terry Wayne Dyson (Sandra), Steven Dyson (Michele), and Tony Arrington (Pam); two great-great nieces; six great-great nephews; two great-great-great nieces; and three great-great-great nephews.
Funeral services celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 today (Saturday), February 18, 2012, at Salem United Methodist Church, Mocksville, with the Rev. Robin Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 AM today at the church prior to the service.
