She worked for Hunt Manufacturing for 12 years. On May 25, 1976, she married the love of her life; Walter E. Steelman Jr. who passed away on October 6, 2021. She is survived by two daughters Tammy Call Knight and Lori Steelman Fox (Jeremy). She has three siblings that she loved dearly, one brother Calvin Roten (Debbie), two sisters, Paulette Marlowe (Dean) and Annette Abernathy. Judy had a deep love for her family and friends. Her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always knew how to make everyone feel loved. She loved to travel and explore and always had a kind word for all.
Judy had a passion for flowers and the beauty of her yard proved her to have the Green Thumb. She also loved to bird watch, and she combined her two favorite hobbies to create that perfect yard by always bringing in several types of birds with different bird feeders. Her beautiful flower gardens and various birds were much admired not only by friends and family, but also by those that stopped just to admire her yard. She had a busy life always taking care of family, friends and always giving her time to take on any charity, fundraisers and especially church functions. She adored her church family at Horizon Church of Statesville. She was known for her infectious smile, her kind and compassionate spirit and her love for the Lord. The Lord also gave her a wonderful sense of humor that she loved to share.
