Mrs. Joan Litaker Renegar

She was born in Iredell County Aug. 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Kelly Emerson Litaker and the late Ola Summers Litaker Baker. Educated in the Iredell County Schools, she was Valedictorian of the Harmony High School class of 1949. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. An avid gardener and an outstanding seamstress, she enjoyed reading, and loved her church and church family. She was a supervisor at Beauty Maid and Capstar Mills.

On June 24, 1949, she married Joseph L. Renegar who preceded her in death in 2010. Also preceding her in death were her son, Joey Renegar Sr.; and her sister, Helen Benge.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Deborah O'Brien (John Lawrence Smith) of Gastonia; daughter-in-law, Ann Renegar; sister, Mable Moore of Statesville; grandchildren, Jeff Renegar (Dawn), Joleen Sadowski (Aaron), Joey Renegar Jr. (Lori); as well as eight great-grandchildren, all of Statesville. She is also survived by her stepgrandchildren, Wendy Wall, Jamie Wall and Andy Wall.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Glenn Dancy III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 124 Mt Vernon Church Rd., Olin, NC 28660.
