Mr. Jerry Ray Jordan, 81, of Statesville, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. As he transitioned from this life to eternal life, he was surrounded by his loving family. A good, Christian man, he enjoyed farming, camping, competing in outdoor games and won several awards and working with his cows and tractors. He never slowed down and was a workaholic. He retired from Southern Screw and made sure his family was taken care of. He loved his family and “fur-babies” and he also loved Duke Basketball. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. A native of Wilkes County, he was the son of the late James Hubert and Dossie Cothren Jordan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kent Jordan.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years and 4 months, Judy Lane Smith Jordan; by a daughter, Judy McHargue of Statesville; by two sons, James Jordan of Stony Point and Rodney Jordan (Ann) of Statesville; by an aunt, Marie Smithy of Wilkesboro, NC; by grandchildren, Brandi Taylor (Cody), Kristi Crouch, Niki Metz and Angel Jordan Dameron; by great-grandchildren, Tyler Hass, Tristan and Piper Metz, Chase, Braxton and Skylar Dameron and Blakely Layne Taylor; and by a great-great-granddaughter, Megan Paularena.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Fellowship Baptist Church. A funeral service conducted by Pastor Beau Mills and Pastor Fred Carlton will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 and Fellowship Baptist Church, PO Box 444, Troutman, NC 28166.
