Jeffrey Lynn Settle, 41, of 157 Gray Barn Dr. Troutman, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Rowan County on September 24, 1969, he was a son of Bobby Ray Settle and Linda Anderson Settle, both of whom survive and are of Troutman. Jeff was a probation officer for the Community Corrections Depatment for the State of North Carolina and he and his wife owned the Play Date Daycare in Mooresville. He was a graduate of South Rowan High School and in 1992 graduated from U.N.C.C. Jeff dearly loved his family and was an active participant in his community through his many roles in his church, Rotary and the T.Y.A.A. He was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Troutman, a member of the Watermark Church where he served as Chief Audio Engineer and he coached football and baseball in the Troutman Youth Athletic Association. He also enjoyed racquetball and was an avid NASCAR racing fan. He was a proud owner of a 1970 Camaro that he had restored.
On June 10, 2000, he married the former Kelly Creech who survives. Also surviving are a son, Austin Cade Settle, two daughters, Allie Mae Settle and Charley Abigail Settle, a brother, Rev. Joel Settle of Troutman and a sister, Shannon Settle of Charlotte. Additional survivors include his Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Steve and Janie Creech of Greenville, N.C. and Kelly's grandfather, James Creech of Kinston, N.C. His surviving Nieces and Nephews are: Logan, Kerigan and Brennan Settle, Olivia Flood, Jayden West and Malli Madison Harrell. Also surviving is his lifetime friend, Michael Stiller.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the Watermark Church, which meets at Troutman Middle School with Rev. Joel Settle officiating. The family will greet friends at a reception immediately following the service and at other times will be assembled at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Bobby Ray Settle at 162 Pear Tree Road, Troutman. Private burial will be in Iredell Memorial Gardens.
