Martha was born in Statesboro to Allen Roy Lanier and Camilla Akins Lanier and graduated from Statesboro High School in 1943. She was a longtime member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church and served as a sales associate with Sears for many years, retiring at the age of 83. Martha was a member of the American Legion Dexter Allen Post 90, Ladies Auxiliary Unit 90 and enjoyed playing cards with her friends from high school in their Tuesday Card Group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Robert J. Blanchette, in 1960; her second husband, C. M. Boatman, in 2012; her son, Allen J. Blanchette; and her sister and brother-in-law, Miriam Hunter and Francis Hunter.
Mrs. Boatman is survived by her children, Robert Blanchette of Claxton; Larry Boatman and his wife, Pam of Jupiter, FL; Sherry Goodwin and her husband, Tom of Canton, Conn.; Sheila Roach and her husband, Bob of Austin, TX; Shea Walsh and her husband, Tom of Richmond Hill; Shelda Baumann and her husband, Steve of Chuluota, FL; Sherice Blanchette and Joyce Joiner both of Statesboro and Carol Osweiler of Williamsburg, VA; niece, Tonya Pierce and her husband, Claude of Brooklet; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom knew and loved her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 to 2:30 PM Saturday, September 30th in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home, immediately followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jimmy Carson officiating.
A private burial will take place in Eastside Cemetery.
