Mrs. Stringer was born in Scott County, Tennessee, the second youngest of ten children. She married James Russell Duncan (deceased) and moved to Statesboro in 1948.
Mrs. Stringer was married to Harley Franklin Stringer (deceased) of Statesboro, Georgia.
She was retired from the Statesboro Police Department, where she worked as a dispatcher for twenty years, before which she owned her own beauty salon.
She was a natural storyteller whose common advice to her family was “Can’t? Never Could!”
She is survived by her son, James Russell Duncan, Jr. of Copenhagen, Denmark; daughter, Rhonda Withington of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Bonnie Bravo of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lacey Rosenberg of Washington, DC; and Joani Withington of Macon, Georgia; three great-grandchildren; and chosen family member, Shari Morris of Bowling Green, KY.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 2:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home, immediately followed by the funeral service in the funeral home chapel officiated by Chaplin Douglas Weisel. The burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
