Henry served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War and was a current and longstanding member of the Zerubbabel Lodge #15 F&AM in Savannah, GA. Retiring at age 53 from Morgan’s Inc., he found new life in Montrose working the floor at the auction. He could be found every October in his coat and tails calming guests as they entered Haunted Montrose. At age 70, he took up drag racing then later tried his luck on the local dirt tracks. He was a model of good health, someone we all looked up to, and he never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Connie Pender Cottle.
Henry is survived by his wife and longtime friend, Eileen Bell Cottle; brothers, John Cottle (Jane) and Phillip Cottle (Jo Ann); son, Henry Cottle, III; grandson, Jacob Cottle; daughter, Morgan Cottle (John Tuttle).
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2018 in Allentown United Methodist Church in Allentown, Georgia followed by a private graveside service on Saturday in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, in Statesboro, Georgia.
