Mr. G.J. (Joel) Driggers, Sr. passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Heritage Nursing Home in Statesboro. He was a member of Leefield Baptist Church. Mr. Driggers was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired owner of Factory Vinyl Tops. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Fulton Driggers and Caroline Wooten Driggers of Stilson, three sisters, LaUna Bryant, Katherine Evans, Christine Van Haltern, and two brothers ,Daniel Fulton Driggers, Jr, Charles “Sonny” Driggers.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Driggers of Brooklet; one daughter , Lynn (Neal) Lee of Statesboro; three sons, Tim (Juanita) Driggers of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Donnie Driggers of Montgomery, Ala., and Joel (Angela) Driggers , Jr. of Brooklet; one brother, Calvin (Ann) Driggers of Meridian, Miss; one sister, Carolyn Cox of Register; eight grandchildren, Thomas Masopust, Sarah Reed, Erika Lee, Brooke Lee, Chelsea Turner, Charli Ana Driggers, T.J. Driggers, and Hunter Driggers.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at the Leefield Baptist Church with Rev. Stormand Glass, Rev. Louis Pearce, and Rev. Robert Black officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas Masopust, Kenneth Knight, Al Bennett, George Pollard, Adam Thigpen, and Morris Turner.
