Barbara "Bab" Lindsey

Barbara (Bab) Lindsey died June 27, 2014 after an extended illness. She was born January 24, 1927 to William Lee and Julia Inez Moore in Anderson, S.C., but called Statesboro her home for over 50 years. She graduated from Lander College (Greenwood, S.C.) and Mercer University. She married John Robert Lindsey in 1947 and moved with her young family to Statesboro in 1958. She was active in her church (Statesboro First United Methodist Church), community and Georgia Southern University.

She was involved in the Bulloch Council of Garden Clubs Historic Preservation, American Cancer Society, Garden Club of Georgia, Oleander District Garden Club, Hoe and Hope Garden Club, Camellia Society, APCD Historic Preservation, United Methodist Women, Dreta Sharpe Circle, First Methodist Church Choir. Mrs. Lindsey served as the pianist for Sunday school at First Methodist Church and was involved in the Statesboro Symphony Guild, American Heart Association, Friends of the Library, and Georgia Southern University Boosters Club. Mrs. Lindsey is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Lindsey and her son, John Lee Warren Lindsey.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Julie and Bill Malone of Maitland, Florida, her grandsons, Will and Robert Malone of Maitland, Florida, Michael Lindsey (Melissa) of California, her sisters, June Ellison of Homestead, Florida, Eleanor Harris of N. Richland Hills, Texas, Judy Darby of Anderson S.C. and several nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, love and devotion to family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Cason officiating.
