Theresa Conti

Legal secretary, longtime Staten Islander, cherished grandmother

Theresa Conti (nee Pinello), 92, of Grant City passed away on Sept. 8, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Vincent James, she was the devoted mother of Donna Conti Gibbs (Robert), Carol Conti Miressi (Laurence), Terri Conti York (Curtis), and the late Joseph; dear sister of the late Jerome and Frank Pinello; cherished grandmother of Andrew James York.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Theresa spent her summers in Staten Island. She and her husband moved to the Island permanently in 1956.

Theresa worked as a legal secretary for over 40 years. She retired from the Supreme Court, Appellate Term 2nd dept. in 1994 with over 22 years of service to New York State.

She enjoyed traveling and the theater, as well as spending time with her grandson and the family dogs.

Funeral is from Virginia Funeral Chapel, 1707 Hylan Blvd., Dongan Hills, on Saturday. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. at St. Christopher R.C. Church. Interment is in Moravian Cemetery. Visiting is on Friday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org
