March 5, 1959 - Jan. 1, 2019
Patricia "Patty-Jo" McVey of Hamilton, N.J., slipped peacefully into eternal life on Jan. 1, 2019, at the home of her sister Kelly. Patty courageously battled an illness for several months.
Born to and predeceased by James and Margaret (Kelsch) McVey, Patty was also predeceased by her brother, Jim and his wife, Nancy. She was the fond sister to Susan Murphy (Donald), Michael, (Mary) Margaret (Peggy) Roskowinski (Peter), Catherine Reilly, (Stephen), and Gerrianne (Kelly) Corcillo (Daniel).
A lifelong Staten Islander, Patty attended PS48, Concord and Susan E. Wagner H.S. She worked in reception for the Staten Island DA's office under both Bill Murphy and Dan Donovan before retiring.
Patty-Jo was born with cerebral palsy but never let her mobility constraints affect her high spiritedness. She continued this spirit until the end. A woman of great prayer, people would call her with spiritual intentions and she would earnestly announce those petitions in prayer. People would marvel at her ability to remember birthdays, anniversaries and milestones and they'd always get a phone call.
Patty was a great fan of "I Love Lucy" and the Hallmark series, but nothing pleased her more than all her nieces and nephews. She loved them so dearly and knew every detail of their lives. She will be missed.
