Born on Staten Island in 1939, Mary Ann lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community. A woman of deep Catholic faith, Mary Ann had a special devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary, which brought her peace and strength throughout her life. She served her church as a sacristan and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound in her parish.
She shared countless cherished moments with her family during vacations to Ohio and trips to the mountains, where her vibrant spirit and love for those around her shone brightly.
Mary Ann served for many years as a school crossing guard in her neighborhood, always ensuring the safety of "her children" and never leaving her post unattended. She also worked at the preschool at CSI, where her warmth and kindness made her beloved by the children in her care.
A lifelong New York Mets fan, Mary Ann’s passion for sports extended into her role as a dedicated softball coach for St. Teresa's and West Shore Little League, where she inspired young athletes with her enthusiasm and guidance.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dennis, and their children Kathleen Hansalik (Paul), Maureen Burns (Gene), Dennis Schaub (Amy), and Christine Mooney (Edward). She was the proud grandmother of Fr. Zachary Burns TOR, Sean Burns (Lisa), Mary-Kate Corry (Patrick), Meredith Manfredi (Vincenzo), Deirdre Hansalik (Thomas Beaudoin), Brendan Mooney, Timothy Mooney, and Matthew Mooney, as well as great-grandmother to Elias and Agnes Corry and Gennaro Manfredi. She is also survived by her brothers Mark Brace (Elaine) and John Brace (Ann), and many nieces and nephews who held her close in their hearts.
Mary Ann's kindness, faith, and love for her family, friends, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
