Joseph A. Runfola Owner of Clove Lake Bookstore Joseph A. Runfola, 82, of Randall Manor, passed away on May 23, 2021, from complications due to Covid-19. Born in Staten Island in 1938, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gabrielle, and his three children, Joseph, Peter, and Deirdre. Joe attended Staten Island Academy and Fordham University. It was at Staten Island Academy that he met his wife, Gay, and they married in 1958. He owned and operated Clove Lake Bookstore, Staten Island's first independently owned bookstore, along with his wife, from 1969 until its closing in 2012. Joseph was very active in his community, first serving in the Jaycees in the late '60s and in the '70s, Kiwanis. He was the president of the North Shore chapter from 1972-73. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Shawn, Joseph, Kyle, Casey, Riley, Meghan, Jimmy, Thomas, Jessica, Jennifer and Peter; 7 great-grandchildren, Emma, Anthony, Joseph, Shane, Charlie, Jackson, and Olivia. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Nina Darga of Atlanta, his two brothers-in-law, Billy and Peter, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10314 on Wednesday, May 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa's Church, 1634 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y., on Thursday, May 27 at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be at Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
