Gail V. Flaherty

Gail Flaherty, a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023 with family by her side. A cherished friend to many, a kind and giving soul, she will be remembered and missed. Born on September 16, 1940 to Oscar Peterson and Marie Peterson, née Hurley, Gail was raised in Brooklyn and moved to Prince’s Bay in Staten Island in 1964. Gail is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard Flaherty, her sons Richard and William, and daughter-in-law Deslyn. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ray & Noreen Coles and was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Henry and Joan Carr. Gail was adored by her grandchildren, Aliyah, Teagan, Ryan, Timothy, Christian and Raychel as well as her great grandchildren, Zayden and Ivan. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Gail will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314. A visitation will occur Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314. A funeral mass will occur Monday, May 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 5371 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10312.
