Edward O’Grady sadly passed away at 56 years of age on Saturday March 23, 2024 after his courageous battle with lung cancer. Ed (aka Eddie or Ted) was born on December 12th 1967 to Lynn Sharkey-Kempisty and Edward O’Grady and was raised in Staten Island, NY. After Ed graduated from St. Joseph by the Sea in 1985, he went on to study International Business in World Trade at Suny Buffalo. He graduated from NYC Technical College’s Hotel and Restaurant management. Ed went on to later have a very successful career as the VP of Operations for TriOut Hospitality. For over 30 years, Ed has been a committed and dedicated Restaurant and Hospitality professional. He was known for his energetic spirit in the workplace, and had a passion for mentoring and developing talented teams of staff and managers.
Ed was a loving father to his 3 children, Brianna, Brett and Ryan O’Grady, and a cherished brother to Julie Cerminaro, Allison O’Grady and Tara Bennardo. Three months ago, in December of 2023, Ed married his now wife, the love of his life, Lori Masseria. He has 4 stepchildren, Angela, Kristine and Nicole Masseria, and Anthony Miraglia, as well as his 2 pups, Jameson and Ella.
Ed and Lori dated throughout college, and they were so blessed to have reconnected and get married later in life. It is rare to see the type of love Ed and Lori shared. Their love was inspiring, and we feel so lucky that they had each other during the last few years of his life. Ed was a man of diverse interests and talents. He enjoyed sitting at the beach and watching the ocean, fishing, reading a good book, and listening to history podcasts. He was also a sports enthusiast, and a diehard Rangers and Jets fan. He loved cooking a great meal, creating cheese boards, and sipping delicious wine. His true passion was spending time with his family, friends, and pups.
He was the kindest and most loving, selfless man. Throughout his battle with cancer, he never expressed his pain or discomfort to those around him, he never wanted anyone to worry. His character is truly inspirational, and his absence will be deeply felt. Ed truly appreciated all of life’s special moments. He understood how precious life is, and always cherished every moment. He was such a joyous soul and will be missed forever. A visitation for Edward will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310.
