Mr. Fisher was born and grew up in West Brighton and moved to Meiers Corners in 1959. He attended Sacred Heart and graduated from St. Peter's High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1985 after more than 40 years as a machinist at Procter & Gamble in Port Ivory.
He was a member of St. Teresa Church.
Edward enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his golden and Labrador retreivers. His hobby was building model steam engines, and he won awards from Popular Mechanics and Live Steam magazines.
Edward was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy I. (nee Williams), and daughter, Laurel Simpson.
He is survived by children, Karen Hurley, Edward Fisher, Thomas Fisher; grandchildren, Lauren Hurley-Scaramella, Derek Hurley, Amanda Fisher-Hubbard, Brian Fisher, Daniel Fisher, Michael Fisher; and great-grandchldren, John-Paul Scaramella, Annelise Hubbard, and Connor Fisher.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home. Funeral is 10:45 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa's Church. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Juvenile Diabetes, North Shore Animal Leage, Port Washington, N.Y., or Meals on Wheels, Staten Island, are appreciated.
