Ed “The Goose” Ferrara, October 21, 1937-January 9, 2021. With heavy hearts we acknowledge the passing of our devoted father, grandfather, and proud lifetime Staten Islander. He graduated New Dorp high school in 1955 where he was an outstanding varsity baseball pitcher and basketball player. He took a liking to baseball at a young age and played throughout his life. He formed many friendships through the sport he loved and the many teams he played for. American Legion, Twiford Muche, and D’Alessio Post to name a few. He pitched and won many championships for coach Dominic “Bronc” D’Alessio. Lifelong diehard NY Yankee fan and avid horse enthusiast and handicapper. He most recently attained his dream of owning a few racehorses. We know he will be rooting them on every time they race, pushing them to the finish line. His favorite pastime was entertaining the crowd with his great voice. His favorite songs being “My Way” and “Mack The Knife.” Retired NYS senior parimutuel clerk, tax compliance agent and part time OTB betting clerk. Predeceased by his wife of 56 years Barbara “Pinky” Ferrara, his parents Samuel and Rose, brothers Joseph and Richard. Survived by his daughter Lisa Wheeler (Russ Wheeler), and sons Edward (Sue Bohannon), Michael (Tricia Roberts).
