Mr. DiMauro, also known to his friends as “Duke,” spent his entire life in West Brighton and graduated from McKee High School.
He worked for 25 years for the New York City Department of Water Resources before retiring in 1978.
An avid athlete, Mr. DiMauro played and managed various sports teams, including softball, baseball, bowling and bocce. He served as manager of the Zasa Association Baseball team in the Tyford Muche League, managing them to the championship in 1953.
“He was highly regarded and respected as a manager,” said his nephew, Jim Senatore.
Mr. DiMauro also played softball for many years with the Matalone’s Coliseum softball team in Port Richmond. He also played bocce with DeNino’s Tavern, winning the gold medal in the Senior Olympics.
“He was a loving patriarch and the cornerstone to his family,” said his nephew. “He was devoted and loved his family and friends unconditionally and was admired and respected by all who knew him.”
Mr. DiMauro served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, stationed in Germany.
He was an active member of the Joseph F. Merrill Post, American Legion, and also the Mariners Harbor Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a parishioner of Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta R.C. Church, West Brighton.
His wife, the former Lena Tammone, died in 2004.
Along with his brother, Albert, also surviving are one son, Edward J., and three brothers, Jimmy, Louie and Guy.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta Church. Burial will in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Brighton.
