On Friday, August 17, 2024 Dennis Robert Mcbride passed peacefully at his home in Staten Island, New York surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with renal cancer. Dennis is survived by his long time partner, Judi Malfi. He is the proud father of three children, Nicole and Colleen Mcbride and Michael Malfi. He is the loving grandfather to Bianca, Daniella, Gabriella and Adriana Sorbara and Tony and Justin Caldorola.
Dennis was born on October 21, 1955 to Marie and Robert Mcbride in Brooklyn New York. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Mcbride. He leaves behind his beloved parents Joseph and Marie Malia as well as three brothers, Thomas, Kevin and Brian Mcbride and loving sister-in-law, Ingrid. Dennis is the adored uncle of Ian, Hunter, Kevin Jr., Riley and Quinn Mcbride. He is also the beloved uncle of Dorothy Baker, Aurora Kendall and Kenny Harvey. Dennis was the doting great uncle to Crew and Haven Baker.
Dennis was proud to serve the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision services for 42 years before retiring in 2018 from Bedford Hills CF. During his career Dennis rose through the security ranks and held the titles of Correction Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He was considered to be a fair and responsive supervisor and was respected and well liked by staff. Dennis worked in many correctional facilities throughout his long career however, Arthur kill CF held a special place in his heart due to the many, many co workers he grew to consider as family.
Dennis and Judi enjoyed spending time at their second home in Myrtle Beach, SC. As a lifelong and die hard New York Jets fan, Dennis enjoyed cheering on his favorite team and attended as many home games as he possibly could with his long time football buddies. He was an avid military buff and was especially interested in the naval strategies of World War II as well as the battles of the Civil War.
He enjoyed reading the latest action thriller novels with his morning coffee on his balcony. Dennis loved his family unconditionally; he is considered to be a loyal and faithful friend by many. He will always be deeply missed.
A visitation for Dennis will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310.
Mass Service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Athanasius' Roman Catholic Church, 6115 Bay Pkwy, Brooklyn, New York 11204.
Immediately, to follow will be a chapel service at Green-wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, New York 11232.
