Christopher Merz, age 53, passed on August 30, 2023 after an almost two year battle with cancer caused by his time reporting for a news organization during 9/11. Christopher was the recipient of an emmy award for his sound work on the US Open. He had a full life starting as a valet parking attendant for pastels in Brooklyn to owning a restaurant called Cartoon Universe to working in sound for Madison Square Garden. He also worked independently for production companies doing sound for interviews as well as the NY Giants. In his down time, Chris had a passion for golf earning a hole in one as well as doing 30 mile bike rides. Finally, he shared a passion for collecting cars such as the corvette, grand national, etc. He was well loved and respected by his colleagues and friends and will be greatly missed.
Christopher is survived by his mother, Noreen Merz, his love and partner of over 20 years, Robin Meyers, his aunt, Joan Collins and her sons, Mark and Brian. He is also survived by Robin’s sisters, Lisa and Dawn and their husbands, Vito and Carmine, respectively.
